Durham Half Day Tour

This half day tour explores the history and treasures of Durham through an informative walking tour. Durham is one of the most famous cities in the north of England. Sitting under the fantastic Cathedral and the imposing Castle Durham architecturally is inspiring. While the peninsular of Durham has a long history of being inhabited the location became famous in 995 when the community of St. Cuthbert brought the body of the saint to Durham. From that point, it was the home of the powerful and influential Bishops of Durham. This tour includes entrance to Durham Cathedral and the Open Treasures. The open Treasures are a collection of artefacts gathered by the community of St. Cuthbert and the Bishops of Durham over the last thousand years and include the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon artefacts in northern England.  The tour has two possible start times at 9 am or 1 pm.
