It’s not every day that you step into class and find yourself face to face with a Roman soldier. Yet, this is just the kind of experiential learning your students will enjoy with Iles Tours.
Each of our high-quality educational workshops features historical characters who help your students achieve learning goals in history, literacy, English and sciences.
The history of the Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans and Victorians are all brought to life by our experienced educators, with historically authentic clothing, equipment – even food! Kinaesthetic learning activities engage students every step of the way.
Sometimes, the best learning happens outside the classroom. Our educational tours are designed for history and geography school trips that meet learning goals while also being a lot of fun.
Need help with transport? No problem. We partner with trusted coach companies to make sure your students travel from school and back again in safety and comfort.
Iles Tours is now offering online historical workshops for children. We offer a range of topic on the Key Stage One (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) syllabus in history. Each week the students will learn about a different aspect of history and the timetable will run over a terms of around 6-8 weeks.
From all of this, you can either chose to do a full course or instead pick and chose the topics that you would like your children to do. Once the courses have started we will progress and work through each session. If they miss a session, they can be forwarded course materials or an additional private tuition session can be booked to catch up on the missed information. For payment, I can invoice with an online software – Stripe – where payments can be taken online via card payment.
I have an up-to-date DBS which I am happy to share with parents and guardians.
During these courses, historical violence will be mentioned and on occasion taught about. This will be taught depending on the children and how they would manage with the facts – we can simplify this down to explaining that people were killed or injured, or explain things to the age-appropriate understanding. Episodes, where this would be most applicable are: Prehistory 4, Romans 3, Anglo-Saxons 3, Vikings 2 and 4, and Normans 3 and 4.
Bookings will be taken via email and a Zoom meeting invitation will be sent out to all participants prior to the session. On the day bookings are available upon request, as well as specific topics for Saturday bookings (the latter would need advance notice).
If you have any other questions please do get in touch and I will be happy to answer any questions.
Best wishes,
Alex Iles.
